When I was learning Mentalism, I never stopped fidgeting around with coins and cards. I didn’t do any effects or routines but more sleights. The biggest reason I preferred Mentalism over Magic was that I was disappointed at magic. Routines made no sense and long as fuck and sometimes even silly.
Mentalism felt more like adult version of magic to me and I still feel that way a little hahahha
Anyways, I wasn’t interested in magic as… “magic”. Only thing I liked about magic was sleights, so I practiced sleights casually for 2 years just like you people spin fidget spinner for no reason while doing something.
Since I am my #1 spectator, I was able to see flaws of my sleights and approach them with bloody honesty.
I loved uploading what I was working on Instagram so I used to film myself a lot. However, I only wanted to upload the best side of me, so I used to film a single sleight for over 2 hours just to get the perfect shot. Do it, film it, watch it, fix problems, and do it again.
That is how I used to practice mostly lol.
While doing that, I came up with my variations and touches on many sleights and even some effects.
After a while, when I started doing magic for 3 years or so, people started to ask me to release my materials with them.
I released Retention Z with Lost Art Magic last year and released Project Z and How To Do Coin Magic with Sansminds this year, aka 2017. And… yup… that basically sums up my past 4 years of doing magic lol
